Terms of Service for Slovira

Last updated: 3 June 2026 · Effective date: 3 June 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Serhii Prynkevych (“Slovira”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the Slovira mobile app, desktop app, and browser extension (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Slovira is an English-vocabulary learning tool. It provides spaced-repetition study, a built-in word library, the ability to add and manage your own words, optional cloud sync across your devices, and an optional AI-assisted auto-fill feature that generates translations, example sentences, and phonetic transcriptions. We may update, change, or discontinue parts of the Service over time.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

The core app works without an account. To use cloud sync and AI features, you sign in with your Google account via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Google account you use and for activity that occurs under your Slovira account. Tell us promptly at serhiko@slovira.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the vocabulary, notes, examples, and other content you create in the Service (“Your Content”). To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, host, back up, transmit, and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you (for example, to sync it across your devices and to generate AI suggestions for words you look up). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups retained for a limited period or where retention is legally required. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to use it.

5. AI features

The AI auto-fill, hover-translate, and related features use Google's Gemini API to generate suggestions. AI-generated translations, examples, and phonetics may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for a given context. They are study aids, not authoritative or professional translation, and you should verify anything important. We do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of AI output, and we may apply reasonable usage limits to keep the feature sustainable.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms.

7. Subscriptions and payments (when Premium becomes available)

Slovira is currently free. We plan to offer an optional Premium subscription that unlocks additional features (such as AI auto-fill, the browser extension, reverse-direction study, unlimited custom words, and advanced statistics). When Premium launches:

This Section 7 takes effect when the subscription feature ships.

8. Intellectual property

The Service — including the Slovira name and branding, the app software, the built-in word library, designs, and text — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own language-learning purposes, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party services, including Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions) and the Google Gemini API. Your use of those underlying services is also subject to Google's terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content (including AI output and the built-in library) is accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 20. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as your statutory consumer rights).

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your data (see the Account & data deletion page). We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or if required for legal or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply.
